Refunds

An AI assistant that gets a wrong charge refunded

Gets the money back. Finds the charge that was wrong, works out who to ask and how, writes it, and keeps asking until somebody answers.

What you'd say

These three charges are wrong. Get them refunded.

When it runs

When you ask. Brief it in a sentence, any time.

What it uses

Gmail a browser

Wants your mail, and a browser.

Where it stops and asks

Before it sends anything in your name. Each request is drafted and shown to you first; it never disputes a charge with your bank or card on its own.

How it goes

The running order.

Every step lands in the record with a time and a source, so you can read what it did instead of asking.

  1. Find the charge and the receipt
  2. Work out who to ask, and how
  3. Draft the request
  4. You approve, then it sends and follows up

Questions

The ones that come up first.

Will it argue with the company for me?

It writes the first request, waits a sensible interval, writes the follow-up, and escalates to the next address when the first goes quiet. Every message is shown to you before it goes, and the thread is in the record so you can see exactly what was said and when.

Can it call them?

Not yet. It works by email and by the forms on their site, in a real browser. Where a refund can only be had by phone it tells you so and gives you the number and the reference, rather than pretending.

What if the charge was actually right?

It says so. It reads the receipt and the terms before it writes, and if the charge stands up it tells you why and asks whether you still want to try.
